The next Parks & Recreation Board meeting is Wednesday, April 16 at 6 PM in the City Council Chambers.  

Mission & Purpose:

The Parks and Recreation Board controls and supervises the maintenance, improvement, development, and use of the city's parks, recreational facilities, and recreation programs. Rules governing recreation program participation and the use of city parks and recreational facilities are adopted by the board. The board also makes recommendations to city council concerning a budget for operating expenses, capital improvements, and user fees.

    Reasons for service: Assist Park and recreation department achieve short and long term goals.
    Goals for Board: Increase quality and usability of all parks in Huxley.
    Occupation: Jr/Sr High Principal
    Other Interests: Family, sports, youth coaching, reading, guitar.
    Notes: I really enjoy working with the recreation directors and other members of the board. They all have the best interest of the public in mind!

    Reasons for service: I think it is important to be an integral member of your community. I also feel that the Parks Board has some great opportunities and challenges to deal with as the community of Huxley continues to grow and the needs for the parks and recreation department change.
    Goals for Board: Increase community input on the future of the Huxley’s parks and recreational system. Increase quantity and quality of all programs and parks in the community.
    Occupation: Program Coordinator – Agricultural Entrepreneurship Initiative at Iowa State University.
    Other Interests: Anything athletic, spending time with family and friends and volunteering in the community.

    Reasons for service: I came to Huxley to raise my children in a small community. Part of having a great community to me means each member needs to do their part. I felt helping on the park board was a way my family could contribute to our community.
    Goals for Board: To see the completion of the Centennial Park addition but to continue to keep looking ahead to what needs to be done next.
    Occupation: Sales and Exhibits Coordinator, Blackwell Publishing, Ames
    Other Service: Member and religious teacher at St. Mary’s/Holy Cross, Elkhart
    Ballard schools volunteer
    Other Interests: Watching any event my children are participating in.
