Mission & Purpose:

The Planning & Zoning Board is an advisory board of the city council. They reviews site plans submitted to the city, new subdivisions and zoning changes. This board also maintains the city comprehensive plan and updates the plan as needed.

  Reasons for service: Since I live in the community I wanted to become involved in how the community evolved.
  Goals:Assist the City of Huxley to develop in an orderly fashion so that in 20 years from now the citizens of Huxley would say “they must have had this all thought out”
  Occupation:Director of the Office of  Contracts for the Iowa Department of Transportation
  Other Service:Member of Huxley Development Corporation (secretary of the board)
  Other Interests:My wife would say golf, golf and golf.  But I’d include woodworking as a distant second and travel is in third place
• Mike Schonhorst Member since 2004 Expiration 1/1/11 409 N. Central Ave. 597-2661 
  Reasons for service:To participate in local government.Goals for Board:The Planning and Zoning has accomplished much over the past two years; participating in the updating of the City Comprehensive Plan.  The Commission went through a re-codification process to bring our codes up to date and to compliment the Comprehensive Plan.  With these two objectives met, the P & Z can more clearly define and direct its activity.
  Goals:Complete the update of the comprehensive plan.
  Occupation:Insurance agent.

  Occupations:I'm a retired Postal worker and now work part time as a residential building inspector.
  Reasons for Service:I was asked to fill a vacancy but wanted to be on the the board because of concerns with the development of Huxley
  Goals:I want to see Huxley keep its identity but also grow to increase business opportunities to come into the town.

  Reasons for Service:I thought that joining the P& Z board would be a good way to serve the city and the citizens of Huxley as it grows as a community
  Goals:Development of  HWY 69 corridor Development of Centennial Park
  Occupation:Owner of Plaza RV, Inc  Bondurant, Iowa
  Other interests:Spending time with family, Coaching and attending children's activities
  Notes: I have Coached HS football at Ballard since 1990 and Lived in Huxley since 1994.

  Reasons for service:Had served on the Parks and Recreation Board for six years and wanted to continue my service to the community.

  Other Service:Member of the Huxley Communication Board of Directors and Several Trucking Industry advisory boards.
